Sunrise Corn Maze About Sunrise Corn Maze & Fun Park

Who would have ever thought that when Gerry and I bought a 12” by 36” greenhouse to grow some vegetables and flowers, it would bring us to where we are today.

Gerry and I bought our first greenhouse in 1998 as a hobby greenhouse. Little did we know that after we ordered our flower seeds that we would need another greenhouse that same year just to finish growing all of our product. Over the next few years we built more greenhouses along with our store front which we now use for our Gift Store. After four years in 2002-03 we changed the layout of the business and added our gutter connected greenhouse that we use for our retail area for all of our hanging baskets and annuals. We use all of our hoop houses for growing our product and preparing it for retail. In 2007 we had the opportunity to expand our business to the Grand Bend area. We built another gutter connected greenhouse as well as a great gift store. We changed the front view of the business in the Lucan location by building our tree and shrub area in 2008. With this increased area also came the increase in our tree, shrub and perennial inventory to better serve our customers. In 2009 we added a tree and shrub area in the Grand Bend location as well.

Though-out the busy years with the greenhouses in the spring came busy fall seasons as well. Gerry has grown jack-o-lantern pumpkins for resale for approximately 10 years. Having any where from 80 acres up to 240 acres, but finding that approx 180 acres is the best number of acres to manage. He sells the pumpkins all over south-western Ontario and throughout the United States. He ships either in cardboard bins or hand loads pumpkins bulk in transport trailers.

Along with our business expanding, so has our family. We have 4 children Jeremy (12), Joey (10), Sam (9), and Reanna (8). They are just starting to help us with the different jobs that arise during the day. The kids are especially enjoying the latest adventure which is our Sunrise Corn Maze & Fun Park that opened in 2008. This was an idea that we had considered for a few years. It ended up being a very busy time for us, but we already had the knowledge of growing the pumpkins and mums, we just needed to create the maze and fun park. The Corn maze ended up being a great success the first year along with part of the admission being donated to the Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre. Be sure and have fun and expect to spend the whole day here for a look at what the farm has to offer.
